What time is it?

Postby railtwister » Fri Jan 06, 2012 8:58 am

I just noticed when I posted earlier that the posted time was an hour later than it should be if it was EST. Has it always been this way and I just didn't notice, or has something changed?

Hey Bill, the daylight savings hour shift doesn't work. I've never looked into it.

Wow, you have a problem with a time shifting too?
Sometimes ago it was a big problem in Russia.
President issued directive that we should not shift the time this year. But a lot of devices SHIFTED... :wtf:
From computers and databases up to the electric counters...

So I guess it's stuck in DST, even if we aren't! Just one more thing in our lives the government has to mess with...

It's in whatever time zone you set your board preferences to. It's just not taking into account daylight savings. I thought about fixing it last year when this happened but decided that I don't want to deal with it. I think the US is the only country in the world that still does daylight savings time. WTF.

^^^ Canada does too. Except for most of Saskatchewan. Waste of time if you ask me.

"I think the US is the only country in the world that still does daylight savings time. WTF." ????

Daylight saving is used throughout Europe and the UK and here in Australia (and NZ). It's very popular here and if one of the eastern state governments tried to abolish it there'd be riots in the streets. Well, maybe....

There has been a lot of talk here in the UK of late as to abolishing here as well. Doesn't bother me one way or other except in spring I lose an hours kip but in autumn I get a nice lie in. It does take me a few days to adjust to it though like being early or late for work.
