What's everybody up to?

Have been working on a small - 1m x .9m ( roughly 39" x 36" ) layout for a local show coming up in a few weeks time. It is all Kuehn set track, except for 1 length of flexi cut to fit some of the odd length straights, just to show what can be done in TT scale. I have experimented with Tillig, Bemo & MBT slow motion motors. All have their quirks but, are working OK at present.

Track laying finished. storage loops at back and sidings in front for coal loader - still to be built.

Making some decals for a Lok-n-Roll flatcar, starting work on a Shapeways gondola, painting three road vehicles. I'll be posting pics on my layout thread in due course.

I had an idea to build a tri-mount truck for an RSD-4. The first milling is ok. But it needs a few minor improvements.

Are you going to do your own side frames? If so I would like to buy a set, I would like to build an RSD-5, I have a Bull Ant for the trucks but haven't had any luck with the rest. James Train Parts on Shapeways converted some TT scale horns from his N scale ones, he has a set of N scale frames but he hasn't responded to any inquiries yet.

I will probably do it. But I had must shorten the wheelbase for the RS-3 Schwaetzer kit of 2mm (0,0787inch). Now comes the testing with the drive chassis with tanks and steps. If there is more space than I thought, then will add some distance.

Another little project has been a small military train. I scratchbuilt a couple of 40' flatcars to load with the Sherman tanks available from Hauler. These arrived a few days ago and are very nice but, not cheap by the time I get them to Australia - working out at $ 20 each. On eBay I found these wargamers versions, painted ready to go, for $ 1.99 US ea out of Hong Kong. search eBay 1:120 wargame. ( they also do a more modern Leopard and a Russian T-90. as well as some in 1:110 & 1:130 scales ).

Just have ONE minor problem

They want to shoot themselves in the foot
The barrel is made of semi flexible rubber and just doesn't want to stay up straight. I will probably just cut it off and replace it with a piece of tubing.

I think they make a special pill to correct that problem with the barrel?
Good luck!
