Western Rails 2016

Western Rails 2016

Postby Bill Dixon » Sun Jan 24, 2016 10:21 pm

Western Rails 2016 is on Sunday March 20, 2016
9 AM to 4 PM

at - Cameron Recreation Complex
9523 Cameron Street, Burnaby, BC.

I will have the TT-Tracks display there.

Assuming all the usual suspects come I am proposing:

As it is shown the display could be made one module wider.
The back is only my filler modules so four new modules could be placed there.

Due to the limitations of the space we are displaying on three sides.

Who is up for this?

Do you have photos of any of those modules set up at previous shows? Looks like they would make a neat layout..DaveB

I'll be there. Though no modules yet - shooting for November for that.

As the event is getting close I decided to do a sanity check on the layout.
It is a good thing I did so, as there were two more modules in the layout than currently exist.
Here is the new display.
2016 Western Rails Study2.jpg
Modules 14, 8, 24 and 25 can be replaced by modules brought by members.
The tables as show can hold a display one module longer than shown.

As to the work I needed to do for this display:
Module 29 is built, sceniced and ready to use.
The crossover on module 7 now has insulated rail joiners.
Module 6 will have insulated rail joiners installed this week.
Module 12 will have the auto reverser installed next weekend.
The reversing switch on module 16 will be left in place until we verify that the auto-reverser is working OK.

I now have two DT402D throttles so we can run up to four trains at once.

Looking at the way the display has evolved it might be a good idea to move the power connection from the far corner (module 11) over to module 13. This is more centered on the display. That will be something to do after the Spring show season has ended.

This show is our 11th for TT, beginning our sixth year. Nothing novel to photograph. The larger layout is taking more time to set up but things went well. We are powering the layout with my Roco Z21 and have control with iPhone, Android tablet, Roco multimaus and Digitrax wireless throttles.

We met after set-up and discussed the layout to be taken to Indianopolis. We have some things settled and what remains is to figure the overall area needed for registering.

More photos and information after the show Sunday.
