Walthers Selling TT scale

Walthers Selling TT scale

Looks like there's a big guy in the selling of TT scale items.

TT scale could be on it's way back again big time.

Interesting news; But I don't think this is 'big time'...

Walthers has undoubtedly noted the presence of TT scale at places like the NTS... as well as increased mentions in the online community, so they have included the TT portions of lines they already carry.

If you look at the vendor/product list... 245 of the 266 products listed (92%) are from just three European manufacturers that Walthers already represents in the US: Busch, Noch, and Preiser.

As of today (7/7/2016) only 20 of the 266 TT products are listed as in-stock, and these are all scenery items.

Remember... Walthers can't be 'Selling' it or distributing it to hobby shops until they stock it.

Typical Walthers, list everything, stock nothing until a sufficient number of backorders have been logged to make it "worthwhile" to order anything.

Exactly!
I've heard this from smaller suppliers who expected the orders to start flowing once they were listed...
only to find Walthers will order no part 'before its time..' (THEIR time), and will happily show out-of-stock or back-ordered even when the manufacturer has a pile of un-sold inventory.

My point in posting this was to show that more people are going to see that there is another scale between "N" and "HO". At several shows I've asked modelers if they've ever heard of TT scale. I usually get the "dear in the head lights" look or they think I'm talking about "T" scale. (IIRC 1:450). To me Walthers showing TT scale is free advertisement of a scale that not many know exists. Walthers gets to a wider scale audience then other media.

Thats exactly how i found out about this scale. Model craftsman had an ad about scenery which mentioned HO-TT and N scale. so i went to the computer and looked up tt and eventually ended up here. So regardless of if they actually have anything in stock i am sure there will be a lot of folks looking up tt on their computers.
