AstroGoat760 wrote:Well, we got an interesting bit of news not that long ago:

The road expansion project has been called off, due to a lack of need for additional lanes of traffic. The bridge near us will still be replaced, but the realignment that may be done will only cut about 5-10' into our property, if even that. Considering that the house is 160' from the road, and the barn that I want to make into a train barn is another 70' further back, we should be good to build a permanent layout again.
Well, a bit of contradictory news: the expansion project is not cancelled, but rather postponed for now.

Concurrently my medical issues have somewhat flared up and the VA in Georgia has been doing nothing to help, so we are selling the farm in GA and have moved to Minnesota. We are still getting set back up again, but at least this time we have the portable layout to unpack and use.

I figure that it is time for an update and an explanation for the absence of myself and CaTTwoman as of late:

In short, my patience with the VA system and overall healthcare in the southern USA ran out, so we decided to move to a state with better healthcare. We ended up moving to Minnesota for the better healthcare. Also, concurrent with the move, I sought out jobs with BNSF and Union Pacific. Union Pacific has stated that until my health improves (a far shot at this time), they will not hire me while BNSF is willing to coordinate with the VA for a possible position soon, to make sure that the rigors of the job will fit my limitations.

As of right now, the only TT scale stuff with us at the rental house that we are in is a trio of Lionel 1/120 models. I do plan on building a new layout in TT scale soon with the new Keuhn track now available.

Our progress on the resolutions for 2018 is suspended for now, as much as it pains me to do so.

I think you are making good progress on 2018's BEST resolution:

More updates, today we just put down the down payment on a new house in Minnesota. It is not a huge house, but there is enough space for my TT scale trains. We will be adding a new outbuilding for the TT scale trains in the near-term.

We will try our best to complete the 2019 TT Scale Resolutions as best we can this year.

Question: which would be a better idea: making a fake caboose shaped building to keep the TT Scale trains in, or a station building instead? I am kinda stuck on that point right now.

If it were me doing it I'd go for a caboose.

Well, we now have an additional bit of space to set up a layout (or two or three...). We now have the neighboring house, which doubles the acreage for the farm from 5.3 to about 10.5 acres. The second house does need some work, primarily with plumbing and some floor work in the kitchen, but the rest is sound enough for model trains.

We will still possibly work on a "train shed", but it looks more like the second house, dressed up as a station, would be a better bet for the layouts, as less work in needed to make it work.

So, that is our new project as it were. The main (living) room, will be for TT Scale, and it remains to be seen what the other rooms will be used for.
