Still around

Post by Bigelov »

Hi All,

It has been a while, but I am still around. I haven't done much in the way of model trains for most of the year, but am starting to get back into it. But I have been checking the forum every once in a while to not get to far behind in all your TT (and other) news.

Apart from trains I have been off collecting/painting miniature wargaming figures. This includes Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms miniatures from Modiphius (great miniatures they are! and I love the Skyrim computer game). Also been playing Five Parsecs from Home, which is a solo sci-fi miniatures game, which I use a lot of old pre-painted Star Wars miniatures from Wizards of the Coast. I have been making terrain bits and pieces for Five Parsecs based on assets out of Star Wars the Old Republic on-line game. Love the Star Wars universe :)

Trainwise, I haven't made much progress on the caboose, getting stuck with the end platform railings and bits breaking off the chassis print. I did fit a new ZIMO decoder to the Meeker Southern SW9 and all is good with that now, though still need to finish the extra lights off. And I have got some photoetch parts made made for some more Russian cryogenic cars. Will post more train stuff soon :)

It is good to hear from you, I think a lot of us have been itching to get back into model railroading this last year or so.
Life is short, play with TT Scale Trains!

That is a very deep rabbit hole lol. I fell into it when I was younger but managed to climb back out. Although, it *is* a lot less space intensive than trains.

Thanks guys,

Through a long and circuitous route I got into TT scale railway though wargaming. So a couple of pics of recent forays into that realm:

Image
Star Wars sci-fi in 28mm (approx 1:55)

Image
Elder Scrolls fantasy Orc in 32mm (approx O scale).

Now back to trains

Well Alex, funny you should mention that!...

But actually no. I haven't delved into that realm but I have saved a lot of "fantasy" and "Sci-fi" train images to my computer.

If you are interested, there are a couple of threads on the MRH forum dealing with this stuff, the main one being:
Complete fantasy: https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/18301 (an old thread with many broken image links)

There are also two build blogs showing
Futuristic Locomotive I2X1 Build: https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/22690
Futuristic Locomotive I2X2 Build: https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/23407

These two are beautiful machines!
