Jan & Bjørn, what's new?

Post by j p »

Some of the work done together with Rob and Richard has been mentioned elsewhere. But I have my own small projects too!
One of them is Viking roof for Gold Coast 40' AAR 1937 boxcar kits. It has been 3D printed, the printed layers are in the direction of the ribs and not visible.
Price: $ 7.

They are available from me, designed and 3D printed by our local 3D print and train expert. He does not want to publish his work on Shapeways or similar services.
Decals will be available too.

Consume Mass Quantities!

Look for the 'V" in the roof column in Ed Hawkins' excellent '37 AAR summary:

My test boxcar got some details and lettering.
The lettering is also available as decals.

3 bay hopper in THB scheme with Canada Centennial herald.
It seems that the herald was painted in white as a base and red on the top of it (same approach as what the UV-inkjet does when printing on the models). The top red paint got washed away during the years.

Slightly earlier version with (faded) red herald will be available too.

My son wanted a Chessie hopper. 3 bay hoppers were not in coal service anymore when the Chessie paint scheme was introduced, but some of them were used in the phosphate service in Florida. I don't know if any of them got repainted. Maybe.

I make my own decals for the ends. The sides are printed directly.

Really nice, I have seen all models last weekend in Gotha. The two variants of the 3-bay hopper were really fast sold out. But Jan makes more, he promised that.
