Shipments and the PS-1.

Shipments.
For Autralia, USA and Canada the shipment costs are around 23 euro excl. VAT. United Kingdom will not be delivered for the time being. The shipment costs are extremely high and also the VAT handling is still unclear.

The PS-1.
There is a lot to say about this project, but it is still too early to make things public. Next month I hope to tell you some details.

Ciao,
Rob

Hi Rob,

That's at least two TT suppliers in Europe who (understandably) aren't delivering to the UK at least for the time being. But what is making shipment costs to the UK extremely high? Is it to cover the new bureaucratic regulations post-Brexit or maybe due to Covid restrictions?

For shipments worth £135 sterling or less (about 156 euros), sending goods to the UK should be much the same as before. As I understand it, VAT will be paid by the seller (and the UK buyer doesn't have to pay customs duty).

Goods over £135 are a different story - as with importing say from the US, VAT now has to be paid when the goods arrive here in the UK, as well as customs duty. And the VAT is on the customs duty as well as on the goods and postage. And to cap that, there's a 'handling charge', all of which makes buying goods over £135 in the UK from the EU a lot more tricky. It will probably price me out of the market but I'm still not sure how it affects postage costs as such.

You don't know what you've got till it's gone.

I mostly ship with DHL. To the UK the shipment cost for DHL till 2kg increased from 10 to 55€. I don't know why. PostNL was in January completely unclear about the delivery time, but they were cheaper, 29€ till 2kg.

Because it was also unclear where to pay what regarding VAT, I will stop for 2 a 3 months supplying to the UK.

Ciao,
Rob

So guys and girls,

In the northern part of the Netherlands the native language is not Dutch but Frisian. Before a major project and I mean major, they take a glass let us say whiskey and they say : "it giet oan"

Dear TT fans: IT GIET OAN!

What does this mean?

Piercing through the clouds of the future the PS-1 is visable, and perhaps a gon and perhaps a bigger diesel and perhaps. . . Ah but not all is clear, not everything is defined.

Let us first start to talk about the PS-1 and the rules of engagement.

Looks like "Let's Get It ON!"

I'll take a bunch of PS-1s, gons and diesels. Thanks

Perhaps one step before details about the PS-1.

To make a new rtr model in serie production, you need quantities. To sell quantities, you need more than one model. The following are steps to go in that direction.

Phase One:
- production of the PS-1
- production of a gondola
- production of a diesel
Evaluation
Phase Two:
- production of a caboose
- production of more freight cars
- production of a second diesel
Evaluation

The evaluation is meant to check growth. If there is no growth in US TT users, there will be no Phase Two.
There is now green light for Phase One, but I can't tell you everything. The manufacturer will present the locomotive, but till that moment I cannot tell his name. And I will wait with telling what kind of locomotive it will be, besides that it is a diesel, till the development is finished and the manufacturer does not object.

And for our North American friends one disappointment. The focus of marketing and sales will be on Europe, at least till a certain assortment is created. But I hope you can live with that.

And now to the PS-1.

The PS-1.

The cars should be of high quality, so realistic as possible after real pictures. The art is made by TT-West.

There are a lot of options regarding the PS-1. Making all available is impossible, it would be too expensive. Because of this, choices are made. The 40 ft and the 50 ft box car will be available, only from cars made after 1/1/1954. Meaning with a welded end side. Furthermore we are also limited in door width, the 8 ft and 15 ft double door will be first available. Perhaps later on the 6 ft, 9ft and 10 ft door width.

The planning is made for a year with max 6 a 7 layouts. We will start with the 40 ft box car in 4 layouts and the 50 ft box car in one layout, both cars with 8 ft doors. Per layout there will be an average of 3 car numbers, per car number we will produce 40 pcs in case of the 40 ft box car and 50 pcs in case of the 50 ft. Now something important, a car in a certain layout with a certain car number will only be produced once! !

Take for an example the Columbus & Greenville 40 ft PS-1 in the white layout with black end sides and roof and the black lettering with car numbers cagy 170408, 170427 and 170441, see picture. We would only produce 40 cars per number and as soon as they are sold out, they are gone. They will not be produced again.

Sets, we will have sets of special cars, but they will be offered on fairs in Europe. Also these sets are limited in quantity, max 50 pcs.

Understand that things are fixed in production for a year. I can't change things or speed things up. This is a low priority run for production, to fill capacity gaps.

Cars can be pre-ordered 2 months before they get available. Sets can not be pre-ordered.

Later on this year, I will give you the first layouts that will come.

A half year after the first cars are on the market, the locomotive will follow.

Kind regards,
Rob
