Re: Chuck's Freight Cars
A Gold Coast box car, repainted and redecalled. Decals by K4 decals. The roof walk is the one from the #750 H.P.Products kit.
I originally removed the printing and the roofwalk to make this one into a Multimark CP boxcar, but plans changed. Had to use the large Spokane, Portland & Seattle decals, because the original Santa Fe logo was still too visible.

Looks good. Is the camera off a little or is the lettering supposed to have the bluish hue?

I think the lighting is off. The decals are white. But none off us in this forum seems to take decent pictures.

Re: Chuck's Freight Cars
I found out that K4 Decals actually make box car decals for the Gorre & Daphetid RR. So that inspired me to build my first car completely from scratch. I scratched all the board joints with an excacto knife. Next time, I´ll just use Northeastern profiles. I first made the mistake of applying dull coat, so I had to redecal and repaint the whole thing. Now it´s finished and challenging me to learn weathering.

Re: Chuck's Freight Cars
I bought some cars in need of repair, scratch built by some gentleman in the UK. He also had a couple of North American steam locomotives made from Triang parts. The cars all used Triang trucks, but some of the cars came without. I have no idea why he did the doors like this. I cut some doors from a sheet of styrene. I found someone doing car doors on shapeways but it seemed to expensive for this car. So I also added some grab irons and decals by K4 Decals.

Amazing modeling. As much as I tinker and make stuff, I haven't done any scratch building and am always impressed with those who do. Cheers mate!

Good work, it's always feels good to complete a project. The G&D is a popular line!
Is that UK made boxcar a 50' car?

Re: Chuck's Freight Cars
It is indeed a 50' box car.
It always feels good to have completed a project until you see the pictures. I forgot the steps under the car on the G&D one and I forgot to attach the brake chain on the other one. Luckily they are not sprayed with dull coat yet.

Re: Chuck's Freight Cars
As I got a couple of old car kits from Al last year, I am working hard to finish one of the reefers and get distracted along the way. So I am working on a car roof the old way.
