Hungarian class 442 steam locomotive in kit form

Post by Marquette »

Recently I acquired a "rough kit" of a Hungarian class 442 steam locomotive. Normally, the guy who sold it sells them as completed models, but he offered for sale one body shell that was damaged (broken dome), very cheaply. So I jumped at it, and he included 3D prints of all the other necessary parts and the etched sheet of builder's plates and number plates, and since I live across the world and postage is expensive he sent enough parts for three locomotives in case some get damaged or lost. All I need to add now is a Tillig BR86 with black wheels and some milliput for the dome. The etches are nice too, the builder's plate text is legible.

How do you plan on fixing the dome?

Probably a bit of milliput and file it to shape.

Tillig made the BR86 as CSD Class 455.2 (Tillig 204242) which has black wheels. If you can´t get one of those, it might be possible to use a normal BR86 and get the black parts from Tillig directly.
