PMT O-Wagen LOWA Stahl, RENFE item #65370

Post by anotherTTnut »

PMT O-Wagen Lowa Stahl, RENFE
item # 65370

- Epoch V
- length over bumper: 114.5 mm
- short coupling mechanism according to NEM 352
- short coupler head to exchange couplers according NEM 358
- short couplers according to NEM 359 from Tillig
- metal wheels, isolated

This model of an open goods wagon of the spanish RENFE is of high quality, low rolling resistance and crisp detail print. It weights 25 grams and is therefore slightly underweight accordingly to NEM 302 (0.25 grams per 1 mm required to prevent derailing in the curve under load) which could be easily corrected with some freight. Judging by the spare parts and the trucks, I would say that only the body is made by PMT and the rest comes out of Tillig`s production.

Highly off topic but does "accordingly to NEM 302 (0.25 grams per 1 mm required to prevent derailing in the curve under load)" mean per 1mm of body length?

Yes, this is regarding the length of model from bumper to bumper. And this is also the minimum suggested weight, could be more if you like and your loco is able to pull it.............

That`s an interesting question and i`m not sure about the bogies. Maybe somebody else can answer that question. But PMT is offering this model in different liveries from NACCO, MAV, DR and so on. So I`m assuming that they used to and in some parts still run in Europe today.
