So update: truck is coming Sunday, not Saturday, so Sunday is when I'm not available. So I'll come Saturday.

Thursday night. Load the van.
Didn't load any tables, Bjoerns modules or any new Hornby models.
The Van is full!
Terry is not well, long Covid, so he will not be out. But after work, I picked up his Z21 and booster, and a few locomotives to test run.
Ready for tomorrow but. . .

Friday.
At work, went next door to Desseres to buy another Really-Usefull-Box to carry power cords and power bars.
At work 'borrowed' a power bar and extension cord. Only loaded one cord at home. Designed a table setup as I forgot the one I made at home last night.
After work went to Home Depot. Picked up another cord, power bar, Bondic UV glue and a sanding tool for home use.
Hit A&W on the way to the park for dinner.
Xenia was waiting at the park.
While I ate my 'supper' Xenia and Bruce (a park member) setup the tables. Went for a large setup that fills the room. A much bigger setup than we could have if we had to allow for the public.
Then we set up the modules to no particular plan, loop to loop with crossovers in useful places.
The tables and modules need to be leveled.
Xenia needed to leave early, so we shut down at 7.
Much to do tomorrow.

Back at home, loaded the Hornby models, tool box, and Zephyr DCC system.
Might be ready for tomorrow.

DISASTER . . .

and fun.

So my ailing van has been making worrying noises recently, It was scheduled to be checked this coming Monday.
Driving to BCSME something in the front suspension gave out and I limped to BCSME. Parked and got out to find the front left wheel canted at an angle. Oh Joy! Looks like $$.

Tonight my wife came by BCSME after work, to pick me up and transport equipment that we will not need tomorrow, home.
Tomorrow morning she is dropping me off at BCSME. In the afternoon when we have packed up I will call BCAA and have the van towed to a repair shop. If the fix is going to be simple and cheap, no problem. If it is simple and not too expensive, no problem. If it going to be expensive or way too expensive, then I will be looking for a replacement van.

Sigh!

Will report on the setup in another post, with pictures and videos.

Hah! I had that happen to the back wheel of a Subaru. It went to the junkyard.

Van news. Took a while but BCAA showed up with a nice hi tech tow truck. The driver jacked up the van to look at what had happened. His comment: That's new. In 20 years I have never seen a strut break like that.
It is going to cost $$$$$.
Looked for a replacement van. New vans are in short supply and out of reach. With the short supply, dealers are adding extra fess, making the cost even more unreasonable.
With the shortage of new vehicles, there is a shortage of good used vehicles.
Nothing in decent condition for what I would be willing to pay.
So pay the $$ and fix the van. The good news is I will have a vehicle that will good for the highway again.

On another subject - Murphy. You all know 'Murphys Law' what can go wrong will go wrong. And the corollary - Murphy was an optimist.

Murphy came to visit last March when I was building the #8 crossover. He hasn't left yet. The #8 crossover module had three issues this last weekend.
First the hot glue holding a module to the bottom of the module let go. Then one of the soldered points let go. I fixed that, then on Sunday another point let go. Sigh.

I took a lot of pictures and Videos. For some reason they are all sideways. Not sure if it is me or the phone. Looking into it. If it the phone I will be off to Samsung for repair as it is still under warranty. Meanwhile I have spent the day fixing the pictures. Still more to do. I hope to begin posting some of them tomorrow.

You really go through a lot to run some trains. Well maybe the van would have broken down regardless of transporting modules or not.
I'm curious about the pictures.
So was it just you and Markette? Or did you have more visitors?
