We have given it some thought, and perhaps an "intermediate" layout between what we now have, and a larger layout would be a good idea, especially with all of the work being done on the farm here.

The second house that we have is being fitted out to rent to a friend of ours, and as such will not be available to store a layout in for much longer. An outbuilding will be worked on soon, for that, though...

Here is the planned layout: 4' x 6', with two loops and some sidings, making use of as much of the track from both of the Keuhn starter sets that I presently have:

All the turnouts are as they are so that manual actuation is done at a short distance.

I like it. Two run-rounds means you can have trains swapping from the inner to outer loop and vice versa, and also have two trains running alternately round the outer loop.
Maybe the inner run-round could be longer, straddling the inner siding if you move that a bit over to the left?

The "intermediate" layout has been cancelled, as we have instead opted to restore the 3'x6' layout that we received from ConducTTor some years ago, to act as a "medium layout".

The plans have shifted somewhat to build a modular 10' x 12' layout and call it good for the size, and then to use the extant 3' x 4' twin loop Tillig Bedding Track layout and the 3' x 6' Tilling Advanced Track Layout as well, to have a minimum of SIX active lines for the 2020 National Train Show.

The reasoning is twofold: the layouts can fit in my new house and train shed easily, and it puts more of the emphasis on running TT Scale trains, rather than static displays.

Here is the layout display plan for the 2020 NTS, as per my submission today:

The overall plan is 12' x 20' and includes three operational layouts, and two display tables.

Now, here is a question: should we trouble ourselves with a backdrop for the main layout?

We are already thinking in terms of shows in 2021:

Check out backdrop junction. They have plenty of stuff.

I will consider it, but at present time, a complete backdrop set may be for a 2021 show, considering the amount of work ahead of us.
