Here are some photos of the finished thing. Hope you like them. Well in time for its first show in August and I've sent details off to Continental Modeller here in the UK. They published my previous two layouts so I'm hopeful - I'm only hoping they don't think it's too much like the last one, although it is five years ago.

Excellent - to me it looks quite different from Naples St in these photos, even if the starting track plan is essentially the same. Can we ask where it is booked for Exhibitions in Aug and Sept (per page3)? Keith

Nice to know it's not too much like Naples Street Keith! I did nearly call it New Naples Street as the main things I wanted to change were the relatively unwieldy baseboard/fiddle yard arrangement and the track, while pretty much replicating the scenics. Then I decided to build most things from scratch anyway based on different photos.

Here are the show venues and dates:

12 August - Northampton MRC, Roade Village Hall, Bailey Brooks Lane, Roade, Northamptonshire NN7 2LS
2 September - Olney MRC, Carlton House Club, 36 High Street, Olney Bucks MK46 4BB
30 September - Kempston & District MRS, Kempston East Methodist Church, 227 Bedford Road, Kempston, Beds, MK42 8DA

That looks really good! Its only 6" longer than Naples Street right? But with a very similar track plan it looks bigger, or less cluttered. There seems like there is more breathing space between everything. And hiding the crossover out of view works really well.

Could you post an aerial view so we can see the whole track plan, like you have done for Naples Street.I would love to see that.

Many thanks Steve. Yes, it's only 6in. longer than Naples Street. I think part of the 'openness' comes from the lower backscene.
This is the bare track plan - I'll do an aerial picture of the finished thing later and post that too.

Thanks Rod,

That fully sceniced drone image gives a much better view than just the track plan. That sweeping dual tack running the full length looks great.

That's a bit better...I bought two of the Peco 1:120 small radius turnouts and replaced the HOm track in the fiddle yard. Even though most of it would be unseen by a spectator I wasn't happy with it. (The bottom turnout looks heavier but that's just a shadow cast.)
I also scenicked part of the fiddle yard so that if you peek under the bridge it looks like part of the main layout and the baseboard join isn't so obvious.

The grey ramps on the FY track help in placing the trucks properly on the track when swapping cars. A little shimmy side to side usually does the job!
BTW if you're interested in reading more about the layout there's a link to a web page (updated with a bit more detail) in my signature below.
