They look intent. I'm glad to see they are giving it a thorough test!

"For they looked in the future and what did they see?
They saw an iron road runnin' from the sea to the sea."

I finally had time and motivation to get started on my concept of an easy modular layout. So I'll have 4 corner pieces and then I can put my other 2 modules in the middle if I want to run some trains. Because I want to try out some stuff it's all more or less quick and dirty. I don't want to work on carpentry before I start building scenery. I laid some track, build a first road and try to build some rocks later this weekend. Then a lot of static grass.

I would run some trains right away. Even on just a circle lol.

We ran some trains.
The layout is making progress, I hope to have the time next week to let some grass grow.
I made the street using quick cement, but overdid it with the weathering. It looks too worn and should look much newer in 1956.
I'm somewhat annoyed with myself, I should have started on this much sooner, because it's not much effort.

Don't worry, there were roads like that in BC in the 50s... it wasn't until the end of that decade that they really started expanding the highway system here under the Minister of Highways (aka Minister of Everything) "Flying" Phil Gaglardi.

What's the radius of those curves? Looks bigger than I imagined.

It's the Tillig 353mm/14 inch Radius. I think I can make the H.P. Products streamline coaches run on those curves, they won't make the tighter ones.

I'm steadily making progress. I underestimated how much grass is needed, so I have to wait for more static grass to arrive.

Your spread of grass colors is good. I always end up making everything (unrealistically) too uniform.
