Piko 2022 New items

I dunno about you but I'm excited about the Laminátka (or as it's nicknamed in Hungarian, Leninátka - Lenin's Curse)! I've loved the looks of that locomotive since I first saw one in 1983.

Beyond that, that measuring car seems interesting.

Yes! Very cool. BG had (and still has) a ton of them.

Are the details of the measuring car available in English? Curious what exactly it's measuring.

The Measuring Car maps out your layout using GPS to create a digital image, usuable on PC or app.

I don't see GPS in the list. It is probably measured by means of wheel and tilt sensors. Like the H0 car, but there with a display.
PIKO wrote:This innovative vehicle fulfills the wishes of numerous model railroaders. With the measuring car, it is possible to precisely record a complete layout including its gradients! Thanks to the WLAN (WiFi) connection, the generated measurement data is conveniently played back in the smartphone app (Android and iOS) or on the PC. Externally based on the measuring vehicles of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, the attractive car model impresses not only with state-of-the-art technology inside but also with high model quality.

Analog and digital operation
  • Live transmission of measured values - via WLAN (WiFi) connection to smartphone and PC
  • Integrated backup battery - measurement on de-energized track sections
  • Integrated USB socket - readout of the memory, charging of the backup battery
  • Gradient measurement
  • Speed and distance measurement - actual speed (cm/s, m/s, km/h), distance traveled (cm, m, km)
  • Onboard memory - Acquisition of measurement data without WLAN connection
OPTIONS IN THE APP AND ON THE PC
  • Live transmission of measurement data via WLAN connection to the device
  • Archive function for easy assignment of locomotive-specific measurement data to a locomotive measurement data to a locomotive
  • Exclusively on the PC: Determination of average speed, daily distance, and time of a locomotive as well as a graphical display of the measured values in diagram form

I stand corrected. No GPS, only wifi. Smart move by MacG to just look up the H0 version of the car.

I had the text of the TT wagon translated from the novelty brochure. I mentioned the H0 car only once but did not look it up.

Maybe I'm getting old and stupid but it seems like all it does is measure incline angle...which you can do for way less than 200 Eur. Looks like you're paying all that money for software development of an app - the gyro, usb port and, other parts cost next to nothing. I don't know....I'm confused why this car is something someone would buy.

When I was young and stupid, I used to think that old age came with wisdom. My personal experience has proven me wrong repeatedly. Now I am old and stupid, so I understand you.

The speed measurement seems the most useful to me, what with speed matching decoders and suchlike.

Nothing beats a complex and expensive tool that does a simple task.

That will probably be the main application, followed by distance measurement.
