Hey Ian, not sure if your solution would allow for a change, but if you can, I would drop the body lower. The cow catcher / snowplow should be a lot closer to the rails.

Don't know that I can get it any lower. It's the trade off using the Tillig gear tower instead of the original MTB's trucks that I think you designed it for. With the thicker .080" chassis plate it sits .040" higher than before but, it was still too high with the thinner chassis plate. At the moment it sits 4.0mm above the railhead.
To get the coupler anywhere near ( still a bit too high ) correct height I had to file out the coupler slot and pack the M.T 1016 down by .090".
I might make a new chassis plate using a set of MTB trucks and see how that turns out.
At the moment I will be looking for some VERY tall engineers to climb that first step to get into the cab :-)

If you heat them up gently you can stretch their legs

Finally had some time to make a new motor mounting bracket from brass. Only tested for 5 minutes but, seems to have achieved desired results as motor was barely warm. Will have more time to test next week-end.

One more step forward - the decals have arrived.
I now have decals available, if anybody else is doing this project, for ACL, BN, CB&Q, Frisco, IC, Milwaukee & WP.
The WP set has multiple options and will do 2 units.

That chassis and heat sink look nice and solid.
Are you thinking of adding lights?

For those adding lights, the light holes in the shell are 1mm diameter.

Yes. When I know for certain it works OK. Will probably have to paint the inside of the shell to block any light showing through.

Thanks. Will save me LOTS time trying to find the right drill size.

No, but I've got plenty of photos so will see if it can be arranged ( just for you )

Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. I've had many other words during this process and beauty wasn't one of them. :wall:
