U30b imaterialise

Post by TiTan downunder »

Think all the previous posts on this got lost in the Geep topic.
Anyway the models arrived here on Monday 21st after having left Belgium on Wednesday 16th. This is great service considering when I placed the order on the 8th they originally quoted a finish date of the 22nd.

The Models - Alex - This is absolutely fantastic printing. Now I know why you are so down on s..tways.

You ( well - me anyway ) have to use a pair of +4 magnifier glasses AND a 2" jewels eye loupe to see the filament lines. They are only really visible on the roof sections because they come out in a gloss finish and show up on the curved radius of the roof sections, whereas the sides are in a flat finish.

I've already started on a mock-up for the drive chassis. Planning on using Tilligs V-160 / BR 218 trucks, the cheap Chinese motor, probably with a flywheel added, all mounted on a 032" brass plate.

Will try a get some decent photos to post this weekend.

BTW, look for the tiny divots along the walkway and around the stairs for handrail stanchion locations.

Oh a couple more notes:

The walkways are textured so you shouldn't need brass.

The stairs at the corners are missing - they are meant for brass steps (but of course you can use plastic).

Can you do me a favor? Take a few pics of the shell and tank? I need some to post on iMaterialise but my parts are all in boxes that I can't get to right now.

Yep, noticed that. You certainly spent some time doing the drawings. The detail is as good as any of the Chinese built HO RTR. AND the clips to hold the chassis in place.

Will try my best. Now have a macro lens so we'll see what turns out.
