>> Well then if UP/OWR&N had some of the rebuilt WE cars that could be modelled with these I might be interested in two - does anyone know how long they lasted?

As per the notes on these cars, they were side dumpers, so you would need to build a new chassis frame

>> Also: do you have similar operator info for the other two types? <<

Sorry, the RP Cyc only deals with those cars in the 2 data pages. Somewhere I have info on the CB&Q cars, but a lot of my stuff is buried at the moment whilst we get some renovations done around the house.

These new versions will have the grab irons molded in place, as shown on the CAD drawings, but you will still need to do the brass parts for the ends.

Yeah. Well I guess ATSF can be an explainable option too. Again just the question of how long they lasted.

I know that game too, I have a mountain of stuff in my dad's basement since I moved into my current place 7 years ago and it's all rather buried. I *really* should look at what I can do with that EHD, I feel like I already possess all the answers to these questions.

Exactly... which makes these even more desirable!
UP-88899 HK-50-5 RPCyc29
UP-88899 HK-50-5 RPCyc29
I think one best way to go is a hybrid;
Injection molded TiTan sides & ends for fine detail, and a 3D-printed / resin cast frame, slope sheets, and 'Roger' longitudinal ballast-spreading hopper doors.

For my own interest... the Santa Fe (AT&SF Ga-62) and Union Pacific (UP / OWR&N HK-50-5) cars are the only ones likely to have smelled the Pacific Ocean...
