Brawa E95 model 53001
The model comes nicely packaged in a big yellow box.
The manual is detailed and in several languages including English. Includes diagrams of all parts and construction.
The locomotive consists of two identical halves. Both halves have a motor with flywheel, both have 4 driving wheels two of which have traction tires. Electrical pickup is from all 12 main wheels.
Lights are directional - 3 forward. For DCC operation, the model is equipped with TWO NEM 651 interfaces. This is important!!! Each half must have it's own decoder which means two are required for the locomotive.
The two halves are connected via a plastic connector. The two motors are connected as well via cardan shaft. There is also wiring between the halves connecting the two circuit boards.
Electrical pickup can be switched to cat wire using two switches on the circuit boards.
The couplers included with the model are of the N scale type (Brawa doesn't have a license to use Tillig couplers?) . However, there is provision for the contemporary Tillig type couplers.
Before attempting to raise the pantographs, you must bend out a tab on each which holds them in the closed position (very silly - see detail picture below).
The model operates very smoothly however, it is a bit noisy. The detail is outstanding except for the light fixtures which are far from the prototype.
Will handle 286mm curves and the classic BTTB switches with no problems.

Here are several pictures that were submitted to me of the BRAWA E95 02, 03 and, 05.
I believe the only difference between all models is the paint.

Mark brought this model to the Vancouver train show and it seemed very quiet running to me. I'm surprised about your comments about it's being noisy. My standards may be very low because my old BTTB locomotives aren't quiet. We ran the E95 on non-DCC, maybe that made a difference. It got a lot of attention at the show.

I've only run it a few times - maybe it'll quiet down after a break in period. Having said that, I have a few locos that are dead silent right out of the box. The Mehanos come to mind.

Re: Brawa E95 model 53001
I was at the train show as well, and I saw his there, as well as his flat cars with the tanks. I am enamored by this engine! It really drew me into this scale, so I'm grateful to Mark for bringing it (He would probably remember me as the guy who would not leave his set up alone... I think I visited it on 5 separate occasions). Since that show, I've been researching TT full throttle!dileTTante wrote:Mark brought this model to the Vancouver train show and it seemed very quiet running to me. Welcome aboard Robert22! The E95 is definitely one of those locos that's a "gotta have" just because it's so unique. I'm not sure if Brawa is still producing them though
But they CAN be found on Ebay Germany from time to time.

Welcome, Robert!! Glad you joined up. :)
I could tell you were quite into the E95! ;)
(I was the one there with the ponytail in the Hungary hockey jersey - the North American TT stuff there was mine).

Hey! Thanks for your information as well! We'll probably see each other again at the next convention!
