What's on the bench?

Post by areibel »

I'm going to take a page from TT IMS and ask what everyone is working on, TT wise?
I've got one of Ingo's caboose kits on the table right now trying to get it together (somewhere a very young Korean girl is laughing at my soldering skills!). It's actually a beautiful kit, hopefully I can finish it up this weekend and then get it painted.

I started a CSD T444.1 a couple days ago (also a brass kit) and starting some ballasting on the tracks.

Another weathering project - one of Alex's gondolas,

and a 40' high cube boxcar.

Not at home so no pictures to take and show but, other than the various 3D designs, I'm redoing the trucks/couplers/buffers on a Tillig BDZ mail car (the older Y wagon version). Also, designing replacement coupler mounts for Peresvet cars with a NEM coupler mount. Adding a flywheel to the older version of Tillig's V36, replacing couplers and wheels on a bunch of BTTB freight cars, was looking at using a BR 218 chassis for PVM's FA but it won't work because the truck centers are too far off. And I'm sure there are a few other things going on that I can't think of right now.

We are making preparations to refit and restore our upcoming HP articulated as well as gathering up materials for custom built boxcars with cardstock sides.
Life is short, play with TT Scale Trains!

And I am just waiting for 218 diesel for my ALCO FA...
ConducTTor, do you think it's unacceptable?

As for me, I am not a scratchbuilder, I am just a collector.
I am waiting for some new wooden boxcars and trucks from Ukraine; I am planning to purchase "western" building from Germany and gondolas from Rob... I purchased Nohab and gave it to Andrey Norkin as a power unit for SD45... It is a week of America definetely! :)
And also I am trying to find some place in my small apartment to build some American diorama/module...
I want to build a tiny freight station with an industry nearby.

getting settled into the "new" house, since I've no net at home just yet I've had some time to do modelling work on some incomplete projects (Royal Canadian Navy Beech Expeditor and RCAF CF-100 on the airplane front, on the railway end of things got restarted on a scratchbuild of a CN Dominion car and started looking at my X29 3D again...)

I have two uncompleted 1937 steel boxcars from Gold Coast on my work bench, which just lacking their paint finish. That's only because I don't have an airbrush yet. A third fowler boxcar is waiting for its running board - my kits came without such. This will unfortunately not change until GC has released its new reefer. Oooh, I can't wait ...
Then I'm also in progress to replace the couplers of my few Peresvet cars with Kadee #714 and to modify them a bit - so that they'll also need a new paint.

... and I have a couple more projects on the backburner, but these are for a future post.
