Passing of a senior member
Passing of a senior member
Just before Christmas, Hal Seitz passed away at 91. A Korean War Navy vet and career pharmacist, Hal was an indiscriminate collector of all things trains. He collected from Lionel to TT and back again. I first met him at the big TCA meets at York and kept up communications thru our mutual love of Rokal. As his days grew shorter he got me to agree to dispose of his collection. There are still a few more boxes to be packed and shipped, but I have a pretty good idea of what is ahead of me now.
There are collections of Tri-ang, Berlinerbahn/Zeuke, and Rokal. There is a large amount of Tri-ang Type A track and a little Type B and many of the Tri-ang buildings. Still to come my way is a nice batch of Wesa, 13mm.
If anyone has any interest please let me know. I wanted to give the group first notice before I have to go the Ebay route.

Re: Passing of a senior member
Sad to hear that Hal passed. Before COVID shutdowns, I frequently saw him at local train shows in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Rest In Peace Hal.

Good afternoon: This thread of conversation reminds me of another older member who I think has passed away. Possibly someone knows more information on Germain Golembowski. He helped me several times on technical questions, and he also needed some Star-Line roadbed which I was able to send to him. Thanks much!

I remember that name! And I remember him being a helpful guy. Unfortunately those were alcohol filled days and I don't remember much more

Re: Passing of a senior member
I too remember some helpful email exchanges with Germain Golembowski... but that was a good 15 years ago now.

Last I heard Gerry's son in law has his trains, Al Reibel may know more.
Re: Passing of a senior member
Yeah, Gerry passed away in 2020. His step son emailed me in 21, I think and wanted to get in touch with John Harmon, He had hauled all of Gerry's TT collection (plus some HO and N) to Connecticut to dispose of. But he wanted to sell the entire collection in one shot, something like 25 large totes full. I don't think John was interested, the step son talked about selling it himself but I never heard any more.
Gerry had some unique items, including lots of HP steam and the only existing Kemtron RS3. I told him those would probably do really well on Ebay but never saw anything surface.
