Gold Coast 40' 1937 AAR all-steel boxcar - ATSF

I don't have any of the ATSF cars, however, I think it's safe to assume based on the pictures that the parts it's built up from are the same as for the other models of the 1937 AAR cars, and this is just a livery variant.

If this is so, then the models as-is are very accurate detailwise (I can't speak for the paint itself, as I'm not really an ATSF person). The brake wheel, roof and trucks are accurate for each number offered by Gold Coast. The only difference, and this is very minor, is that the prototype had a Duryea cushion underframe. I'm sure many of you are thinking now, who cares what the underframe looks like, you'll never see it when the model is on the tracks! But here's the part that makes it interesting: to represent the Duryea, all you have to do is mount the couplers a bit further out than normal, to give the impression of having the correct underframe! When the car is in a train with non-Duryea-underframed cars, the difference will be noticeable.
