The version with "tiger stripes" is / was extremely rare. So it's rather improbable that it will be produced.

I've just got one of these, and as it's my first loco that I've put a PluX decoder into I thought I would be able to turn the red "tail" lights off when coupled to a train- as it is, they seem to be off f0 (outputs A & B) so are on whenever the head/marker lights are lit. I have f1 set up as a directional function (outputs C & D) but that makes no difference.

Another curiosity to me is just how like a smilar Roco H0 loco the design is, from the assembly method to the way the bogies are mounted!

Anyway, lovely little loco.

Yes, unfortunately Piko doesn't use any of the additional outputs of the PluX12 compared to a standard 6pin decoder. I think they use this interface in any future locomotive and save a lot of money, plus want to sell their overpriced PluX decoder.

I don't have the possibility to compare, but it might be. Wouldn't be the first time they get caught copying. Years ago Märklin went to court complaining, Piko copied their ICE3. As far as I remember, Piko wasn't found guilty, but the court said something like: Yes, it's a copy, but since all model trains are more or less similarly constructed, it also could be an accident.

Happens! Dapol's N scale class 73 was so obviously a shrunk version of Lima's 00 model it was funny, right down to the horns being the wrong way round.

Only way to solve that is with a decoder or bigger flywheels.
