Vancouver train show March 2015

Vancouver train show March 2015

Postby dileTTante » Sun Jan 18, 2015 9:51 pm

As CN-TT has mentioned elsewhere, we have another train show soon---

Western Rails 2015
33nd Annual Railroadiana Show
Sunday March 15, 2015
9 AM to 4 PM
Cameron Recreation Complex
9523 Cameron Street, Burnaby, British Columbia, north of (behind) Lougheed Town Centre.

This will be the sixth year we have shown TT scale at this venue, and with two shows per year it will be the eleventh show for us.

As you can see, the show is Sunday only. Set up is Saturday evening but I don't have information about that yet.

I expect at least four TT people, maybe even six or seven. My simple oval will be ready for running European TT, and CN-TT will bring his GuiTTar Case, and Bill Dixon will have his TT-Tracks layout.

I am planning to be there too. Working hard to get my BTTB rolling stock ready to run. I have a double track oval and some sidings I can set up.

You are getting a name tag for the show because we were expecting you. But you should tell Bill Dixon right away that you need a table or two for running trains. I have sent you his e-mail address. I am bringing an oval set-up if you would like to use that - approximately 1 meter x 2 meter.

Track plan of the oval for the show. It will be a double-track DC oval made of sectional track. Two trains running simultaneously. I hope it will showcase the TT scale very well. The size is about 1x2 metres.

CFRiad: That should be a nice display, much more than just a minimal oval.
I presume you realize that a train running counter-clockwise on the outer oval can never get to the inner oval, and conversely for a clockwise train on the inner oval. While that may not be a problem for the 2-train display running at a show, for general operation I would add a matching crossover at the left bottom.

Is reversing a train from one track to another not allowed?

@gerhard_k: I hear you. It started as a minimalistic oval but I could not make myself stop until I ran out of track pieces. I thought about placing a switch at the other end but that would have needed a few track section I did not have and would have made the the first and second tracks from the bottom too short. I guess I will have to order some curved turnouts for that corner.

Next show, I guess. Until then I will run my engines around and reverse the trains when needed.

The Western Rails show is two short weeks away.
I am happy to say we have all the space we asked for.

The display starts with two eight foot tables at the top for Tibi.
Then two six foot tables for Terry.
Then four eight foot tables for the TT-Tracks layout
and last but far from least, a six foot table for the GuiTTar layout.
Thats four different displays with a frontage of over 32 feet.

I expect that there will be at least five of us there (Terry, Graeme, Tibi, Bjorn and myself) and I am asking for a couple of spare name tags in case Xenia and others show up. If others are coming or any of the above are bringing helpers, please let me know soon so I can get a name tag for them.
