V60 locomotive axel arrangement (UIC)

I was trying to figure out why the V60 series of locomotives have different axel arrangements (UIC). I came across this

That the DR V60 is D (4) axel [DR BR106 & BR 105 (from 1970), 346 & 345 (DB class from 1992)]
While the DB V60 is C (3) axel (DB 106, DB 361, DB 362)
doing a 'V60' search there are no DR or DB prefix so IMO the type of locomotive in the 72 post is left to your imagination.

Maybe someone would like to enlighten this noob.

If I remember correctly, the number does not have much to do with the axle arrangement. It is the power of the primary mover divided by 10. V60 means 600 horse power. V100 means 1000 horse power, V200 means 2000 hp.

The V60 has two different developers (west: Deutsche Bundesbahn and east: Deutsche Reichsbahn). The two parts of Germany have independently planned and build a small diesel switcher.
But the classification is grounded in the old common one. She was already used before WWII. This was further used by both railroad companies also for new locomotives. The V stands for combustion (Verbrenner) and 60 for projected 600 HP which were the request for the new locomotive. Therefore are two locos, the DB V60, and the DR V60.

The DB V60 became 260, 261 (1968), 360, 361 (1987) and 362, 363 (1997). There are no DB 106.

DR V60/106 became DB 346 after Reunification...
