My used Tillig 02557 BR 229 Bahnbau runs opposite direction

Thanks, I will do this tomorrow
Regards,
Rich1853

I notice in the exploded view diagram / part list that it doesn't have traction tire rubber rings.
Also do you know what the 3 position slide switch on top of the pc board is used for.
Thanks again.

Hi
Unfortunately I do not know the function of that switch. It is not mentioned in any description, however in this model they had several issues with the lights, maybe this switch controls their wiring. Try it.
(In DCC probably you can control independently the front and the back lights etc. ie the switch will probably separate the light circuits).
According to one of the descriptions there were originally tyres on one axle [21]. Probably it is replaced by the former owner. ( I would do it also, do not like traction tyres.)

My mistake, the exploded view and parts list does show the tire wheel grip, detail part 20 (398595) on axel set 19 (207200)
On my locomotive they are not there.

This it can be. At your photo isn't to see there the original DC-PCB. This breakaway PCB was replaced by a small green PCB DC-plug-in-connector.

Reversed the plug in pc bd in the connector made the throttle control short indicator light up.
Changed the switch position no lights nor movement.
Exchanged wires l to r and r to l, bingo.
Oiled all the bearing runs like a champ.
Thanks to all for the suggestions.

Well done, sir!

( just for the fun, please check the polarity on the PCB. There is somewhere a "+" mark on the PCB. There should be a + potencial when the + is in the right rail in direction of the movement.)

That's one of things I did. The + sign was on inside rail side. I said no biggie, I'll just flip (change end to end) the board around so the + is on the outside rail side. Wrong move - the frame has a cutout for the connector of that small pcb. To make mathers worse try to reassembled two drive shafts with 4 nipples on both ends with one week hand. At least the motor bearings could get oiled. It seem like an eternity, after much #$%& I finally got it together and had to exchanged wires. Runs great. The end.

Here is what I have in my Bahnbau Gruppe
BR218, BR229, BR233

Thanks, this excludes some other problems in this kind of loco. That means somebody for any reason wired the boogies in wrong way.. .
About oiling: Please be very careful with oil on motor axles. Especially the Bühler motors tend to "suck" in the oil to the brushes, what can have fatal end. Most of the modern motors have sintered bearings, they do not need oiling or extremely little oil is enough (a drop on a needle).
Congratulate to your DBG collection.

To the logo: You can easily resize the picture with some of the graphic programs, or on-line. ( resize images).

Thanks, I do have a precision oil dropper.
Overnight I got a reply from the Tillig's customer service department.

Dear Mr.

it seems that you have a very old version of the PCB at this model. Causing the last production date of the model it is possible.

The slide switch is without function for the diesel loco. The PCB is universal for electro loco and diesel loco. So this slid switch is for the electro locos to switch between overhead wiring and track current pick up.

If your model runs into opposite direction at DCC modus you have to modify the CV 29. Please look to the manual of your decoder. There you find the value of 6 for normal running. Is the running direction opposite so please set bit 0 on. The result is the value 7 at CV 29. This will change the direction of moving.

Best regards
