The 0.008 wire scales to less than an inch... which could represent solid steel rod.
Pipe handrails would be at least 1-1/4 OD... (49 CFR 231.21) which is almost exactly 0.010.

Tom at Clover House http://www.cloverhouse.com has 0.010 straight pieces in brass.. and coils in phosphor-bronze.
Hmm... I wonder if his magic wire-straightener machine works on phosphor-bronze?

" 0.010 straight pieces in brass.."

Many train shops stock Details Associates wire in various diameters , I try to keep some of each size in my supply drawer. Weaver O scale tank cars had plastic handrails and guard rails between the trucks and they almost always broke so got replaced with metal......DaveB

Ok. 1/120=.0083333 and 1.25 X .0083 = .01041666. Ok. I'm picking nits.  .010" it is. Works for me.

I got an email saying I had a private message from a member but when I tried to read it it said "can't read message because it was deleted" Is this a glitch in the system or did he just change his mind and delete it after sending? ......DaveB
