Thank you all for your kind words. Dad has been fading for the past year so his death was a shock but not unexpected.

As to the calendar it is something I have done a few times before.
Previous versions had a holiday or Saint name for every day of the year. Got to be a bit much to maintain them all so they have been reduced. As the master is a CorelDraw file it is not too hard to move things around for the new year. Most of the time I have a shortage of reasonable pictures to use.
I regard it as a fun thing to do so more will come in the future.

As mentioned in previous posts my father passed away in December.
He left a good estate so after the estate is probated, all the bills and credit cards are paid off, there will be money in the bank. Some of that will be mad money to spend on TT and travel.

What to buy? As this is found money, things that were thought to be too expensive are now in reach.

I need to expand the Locomotive fleet beyond SW1200s and one F3.

I wouldn't mind a pair of CPR RS3s but I do not know if they are still available.
As well the old time tank car released looks interesting. How do I contact the builder.

The Canadian Grain hoppers are now acquirable from Loc-n-Roll. A small string would be nice.
Maybe a few F3 drive chassis if he still makes them and some GPs. Bulkhead flat cars look interesting.

I need cabooses. Art & Detail used to supply some of his models built up. Any body know if that is still true. Need a pair of CPR cabooses and a pair of CNR cabooses.

More hoppers and a few more SW1200, and decoders(some sound) for all of them.

A new Digitrax DCS240 command station and DT500D throttles. The Z21 is interesting but with the WiFi issues we had at the last show we may have to go back to Digitrax for some events. We will see.

And of course material to make end loops and improve modules.

That should use up my mad money.

Travel to shows is going to be easier.
Maybe Orlando this year, will discuss that on the Orlando thread.
Maybe KC next year with the layout.
Going to Salt lake in 2019 with the layout.
Santa Clara in 2021 with the layout is doable.
Need to set about 10 grand aside for Birmingham in 2022. Would have to be crazy to take the layout there.

Much to dream about. Will see what the reality actually turns out to be.

Bill,

How was the calendar made?

CaTT had made the suggestion of making a "Ladies of TT Scale" calendar, and I am partly serious about making it happen.

Bill, regarding rolling stock, visit http://lok-n-roll.de/ and http://www.siggis-modellbahn-shop.eu/US-Corner_1 . For the RS-3, contact member/IngoSchwaetzer/ .

A long time ago we talked about backdrops.
I have been reconsidering the idea.
Here is a module with no backdrop.

You can see all the junk behind the module.

Adding a plain blue backdrop changes things.
20170401Plain Backdrop.jpg
Better but too abrupt an edge between the module and backdrop.

So how about a bit of simple scenery.
20170401simple scenery.jpg
Adds a bit to the scene.

The backdrops were made from a Masonite painters panel 20" x 24". The 20" dimension was trimmed to fit the module width. Then the panel was cut in half to make a 12" high board. Painted with inexpensive craft paints.
The backside is green.
I am thinking of using metal plates on the modules and magnets to hold them in place.

I am going to play around some more with the idea. I think some basic scenery, hills and such, would help the appearance of the display. Need to play with colours and such. Need to learn how to paint trees.
I do not want them to be too busy and detract from the module.

More experimenting to do.
