Let's get the discussion going. Whoever has modules that are planned to be at the event, please list the exact modules.

I can bring the following modules:

2 corner modules exclusively dedicated for the reverse loop
2 special straight modules exclusively dedicated for the reverse loop [24 3/8" (619mm) x 17 1/2" (444mm)]
1 standard wide straight module (NOT exclusively for the reverse loop, but the reverse loop wouldn't work without it!!! incl. a DCC turnout; Address 1 )
1 standard wide straight module '1 track to 2 tracks' as the connector from the staging yard to the reverse loop
2 corner modules with smaller radius (can be used to place the reverse loop in an angle or zigzag to the main layout)
1 double wide bridge module
1 straight standard module with a bridge

The reverse loop can be made longer by putting any 2 (or 4 or 6 ...) standard straigh modules to it.

Can you give the exact sizes of the non-standard modules?

Re: 2016 National Train Show - Indianapolis, Indiana

Although I do not know if I will get there, I am willing to be the coordinator for the NMRA 2016 event.

Here is an expanded NMRA 2015 layout as a start.
2016 NMRA Indy Planning 1.jpg

There are many assumptions made in this diagram. Note - all of the new modules are just 'placed' in the diagram for now. The display sits on ten show supplied tables (2' x 8') and three of our tables (2 - 2 1/2' x 6' and 1 - 2' x 4').
1) Tables are 2' x 8' like at Portland. We won't know until we get there. Better to plan for smaller tables and be pleasantly surprised if we get larger ones.
2) Everything that was at Portland will be finished and at Indy.
3) The return loop will be there and used. I have not fully diagrammed the return loop because I do not have all the dimensions but it should fit on the 2' x 4' and 2 1/2' x 6' tables shown there.
4) There is room for ten new modules, twelve if we shift everything a few inches to the right.
5) Yellow shows two new modules from Tibi and his right hand staging ladder.
6) Mauve shows two new modules from Conductor.
7) That leaves six grey modules (or eight) to be supplied. I have four filler modules so we only need two more.
8) One power module should be enough but I will need a ten foot extension to get the power to the station corner. We could add second booster feeding the station corner but that will require insulated rail joiners somewhere in the front and back lines.
9) There will be a need for longer throttle panel cables as well.
10) On a layout this big we may need to run two trains at a time on each line, so may need another throttle or two.

That should be enough to get discussion started.

I will bring:
  1. non-standard (666x300) right-hand staging ladder
    • connects to Bjoern's reversing loop
    • has 5 (up to 9 if we also install switch machines on the left-hand ladder) DCC turnouts address range 11 to 19
    • turnouts can also be operated locally without a throttle or remote
  2. double length, double width colliery module (997 x 600)
    • has 9 DCC turnouts address range 21 to 29
    • works also as a switching puzzle without affecting train movement on the mainline
  3. standard length, double width colliery extension module (497 x 600)
  4. four broad "not-quite-universal" inside/outside corners (997 x 997)
  5. four non-standard compensation modules for the broad corners (length to be determined, in the 175 to 250 mm range, standard 300 mm width)
  6. up to three plain standard modules to fill gaps

Adding the basic non-filler modules from Tibi and roughing in the reverse loop we get:

Still room for five modules from other people.

I am not sure about the arrangement of the reverse loop. I laid it out as best I could from the dimensions given.

Bill, you nailed it. This is exactly how the reverse loop looks like!

Actually looking at your pictures I think it is more like this:

I am just not sure of the angle of the curves.
