Most of it seems to be identical on the drawing. The shell would need an extension and the trucks are different (of course).
U30B and C.jpg

Because life is not so simple, it would require starting from zero on the shell. The file I have for the current shell became corrupt and I can't make any changes to it. LUCKILY this happened after I was done and had uploaded the design. Otherwise I would have thrown a lot of things through the window.

Hi Alex,

Is this also true of your files for other shapeways items (like freight cars) as well, or are you still able to use & modify/update them? Is your Shapeway store still active?

The rest of the files are ok. Only the most complex and time consuming one went bang :(

And yes all the stuff is still on Shapeways. Considering moving it to iMaterialise though.

Typical that the biggest & most complicated file would be the one to have problems. From the recent pictures of the U-boat as seen here, moving to iMaterialise would be good. I wonder what prices would be like though, since their sideframe costs are astronomical. - Bill

The sideframes would end up significantly cheaper per sideframe if I had 4 on a tree.

Why not have both? S...tways those who want the cheaper version and i.Materialise for those who want quality.

Haven't really had any sales on shways in a long time. May as well just drop it.

Alex,

What does it cost to keep the Shapeways items listed? You might want to thin it out a bit by removing the u-boat’s body, since that’s already listed with the other service, and seems so much better, but if it’s a free listing, why drop it? You never know when/if someone may discover it and want to buy something. As I recall, the tank car wasn’t that bad, and if it needed a bit of sanding to remove print lines, there wasn’t a lot of rivets or other details that would get in the way.

I would suggest leaving it, as yes, the tanker car and the gondola were pretty nice overall, with some work.
