Oh and it's also possible I ordered 9' wheelbase trucks from MTB instead of using the SW1200 ones...they are 8'?

Sorry gang, it's been a long time and all those details I knew by heart have started to fade...

OK, I just wanted to make sure- the SW trucks are 8 foot (most switchers are- EMD's SW and NW series, Alco S units, etc) but the 9 footers are what I got!

Alex has asked some years ago Mike to build the etched parts for the U30B. He has it sketched and let it etched. A test build should be the next step. The time to do this is the limiting factor. If all will fit, Alex can get them.

What would it need for conversion into U28C / U30C?

Not sure. Would have to research.

So is it possible that all the components needed for a working U30B - body, chassis, trucks, motor/shaft assembly and etched parts - might be generally available at some point?

Most of it seems to be identical on the drawing. The shell would need an extension and the trucks are different (of course).

It's possible. Is it likely? No idea.

Because life is not so simple, it would require starting from zero on the shell. The file I have for the current shell became corrupt and I can't make any changes to it. LUCKILY this happened after I was done and had uploaded the design. Otherwise I would have thrown a lot of things through the window lol.

There are some CAD programs which can import and modify STL files. Like Fusion 360.

The U30C is more interesting to me than the B.
