Well, they were pushing 30 years old by that time, and add to that that the Chesapeake & Ohio had taken over full control of the Pere Marquette in late 1947 - so newer cars of that length, if needed on the Pere Marquette Division of the C&O, could just be sent over from other parts of the C&O, so it wasn't a big deal to retire the cars en masse.

FYI, I've updated the gon with trucks modified specifically for its low skirts to deal with 310mm radii. From now on it will only be available with them.

That's gorgeous. Ok, I'll make it in FUD. But!! To this day I have not had good experiences with FUD and bigger pieces so if it doesn't come out well, you'll have to talk to shpws for a refund. I'll update when it's ready.

I know the experiences concernig Shapeways have been discussed before.
Please, could you make a link to this discussion?
I'm going to go into the Shapeways topic more closely. But somehow I don't feel like searching...

There is no one specific discussion. I've brought up the issues in several topics about Shapeways products. have no idea exactly where they are. I would start by doing a search for "FUD".

i think what you do is to photo it and send a pic to them and they reprint. there is no guarantee that the reprint will be any better ... i presume you just keep sending 'em back till you get one that is good. there are a number of threads on this on their forum; i was reading one today. BUT it is also said that they get narky if you paint the item, which seems a bit silly because a coat of primer is often the best way to see whether the horizontal lines are a problem or whether paint will obscure them.
