Nope. Don't do anything to the hole. It will be tight and may take a little work to get the bolt started but, that will insure a tight fit and therefore a secure mounting of the coupler.

FYI, I've been able to make some modifications which have dropped the overall (body + trucks) price by over $2 down to $24.15 - http://www.shapeways.com/model/144944/5 ... scale.html

What do we know about the prototype of this gon? Who was it built by, when was it first built, who ran them? I'm trying to figure out if I can use these for something set in 1969...

BNSF shows it to be a Thrall AAR e534: http://www.bnsf.com/customers/pdf/52ft_Gons.pdf

The bolts on the sides have been replaced by welding maybe on this BN version and there is a top to protect the contents
