The most dangerous job at the European railways.

I don't understand why they don't send the screw coupling and buffer at the retirement.

That's the first time I've actually watched coupling like that (European railroading), but I can sure see why buffers are so important!

The answer is very simple. Such reach countries like Germany ( that time West Germany) and France could not find a budget for the coupler replacement. Almost all other railways in Europe were ready for the exchange.
