Tillig V60 Diesel Locomotive Model 96138-96146

Tillig V60 Diesel Locomotive Model 96138-96146

Postby BTTB Fan » Fri Jan 15, 2010 10:07 pm

This thread describes common specifications for the following Tillig models of V60 diesel family (click on links for pictures/details for each model):
Art.-Nr.: 91138 - BR 106 "ITL", Ep. V
Art.-Nr.: 91139 - V 60 "WAB", Ep. V
Art.-Nr.: 91140 - BR 106 "Renate 14", Ep. IV
Art.-Nr.: 91142 - V 60 "IPressnitztalbahn", Ep. V
Art.-Nr.: 91143 - V 60 "ACTS", Ep. V
Art.-Nr.: 91144 - BR 105 DR, Ep. V
Art.-Nr.: 91145 - BR 716 "BVO Bahn GmbH", Ep. V
Art.-Nr.: 91146 - V 60 "Wismut". Ep. V

Model features are:
- Length: 91mm
- Lighting: Directional, 3 lights forward only, incadescent
- Couplings: BTTB style socket with catch, models came with either BTTB or new Tillig couplings
- DCC interface: NEM 651 socket, Tillig recommends Lenz Gold Mini decoder (Tillig part number 66013)
- Pickup from all wheels
- All wheels driven
- No traction tires
- Additonal decoration/accessories supplied separately
- Standard Tillig Information sheet in German
- These models are a product of Jatt/Tillig co-operation

Locomotive is quiet and motion is nice and smooth. The only negative I saw is that incadescent light bulbs are very dim in DC running mode, even at highest speeds. Replacing them with LED would make a big difference.

Here are the scans of instruction sheet:

A comment on the V60 - I'm surprised that lighting is only forward and uses a bulb. Older Tillig models that do that such as the Nohabs for example. I always though the V60 was a newer design...

A small update for those who care -

All of the V60 / 106 etc. are this way with the lighting except the newest one which is "in planning". The Nohabs, class 221s and class 120s are all still front only lighting with a bulb.

My guess is that this kind of lighting is due to the older design by JATT. I my model from ModellBahnWelt as "discontinued model on clearance". The newer design of V60 is available for sale now, but I have not checked if they upgraded the lighting.
The additional drawback of older model is that the bulb is soldered in place. Replacing it with a warm white LED looks possible, if a bit tricky due to the space required for resitor+LED itself. Aside from the lighting though, I really like it! It's like a modern version of BR81 steamer - suitable for heavy shunting and all kind of branch service.

Here you go, boss: 65.6 x 13.8 x 3.5mm (the height measurement is up to the top of decoder connector, without the decoder)

Keep in mind that these are all discontinued models, and I don't have a new V60 to check the size of the board.
