Tillig M62 headlights mod

Postby sman » Sun Aug 28, 2016 3:49 am

I've been a bit unhappy with the brightness of the headlights on the Tillig M62 for some time, after a failed attempt with 3mm LEDs some time ago, I thought I'd try again with a PCB mount LED. I had some left over from the ESU50708 passenger car lighting kit (which needed trimming), so thought I'd give them a try. Here's the result.

Before and After

I'm much happier with it now anyway
The biggest challenge I found was space. The design of these things seems nice, with every bit of empty space used up by the metal cast that provides the weight. But man I wish they'd left SOME space for little mods or at least a resistor or two!

While I had it in pieces, I also decided to throw in a driver

Nice. I would seal the light so it doesn't shine in the cab though.

Valid. I don't mind it, makes it look a bit more interesting. But yes, not very realistic.
