the weather

I hope those of you in the USA are faring well in the weather.

I assume the deniers in the Tea Party are coping OK with ice tea.

In Britain we are just wet, wet, wet ... although I am starting to wonder whether some bits of these sceptered isles will disappear under the sea on a semi-permanent basis.

Weather. Urgh. I was on a north sea ferry on the night of the 23rd December. There were gusts of force 12, and the average was somewhere between 9 and 11. Althouggh I'm sure AngrySailor has seen worse, it's the worst crossing I've ever been on. It normally takes less than seven hours, and on this occasion took more than ten.

Well, here in Germany - especially in the Cologne area - it's nearly spring: Temperatures with 2 digits (13°C / 55°F), sunshine, birds chirping, crocuses popping out...

We're the opposite, it's COLD!
It's about -9 F outside right now, it got down to -15 (-26C) during the night but at least not much snow.
Only 72 more days until spring!

Wow, I feel for you guys. This last weekend here in Alberta it was -37 deg. C. With windchill it felt like -45. That's about -49 deg. F for those of you who are not international standard compliant.

Yeah, but that's not a fair comparison. You live up there in The Great White North, where men are men!
0 degrees C is T shirt weather, 0 F you might need a sweater! We're the softies south of the border.

15 degrees F this morning in Mississippi. Throw in the high humidity and the wind chill and the weather dude says it feels like single digits. Realize it's nothing like Canada, but it is cold here, experiencing some of the coldest temperatures in the last 10 to 15 years.

It is cold here in Georgia, without wind chill, it was +5 degrees out this morning, with windchills reaching -15. We have had to set up a series of kennels in the house to keep all of our critters warm and safe, which made gathering eggs easier.

The biggest suck of it all for us is that our furnace went out a few days ago, and our landlord is just now trying to get it fixed. Space heaters are a lifesaver to keep on hand...
