Switching to Gmail

Postby ConnRiver » Mon Jan 30, 2017 1:20 pm

I'd better ask. I'm switching from ISP email (Thunderbird) to gmail. As I recall, I had a struggle getting Thunderbird set up to get TT_Nut mail (rss feed, maybe?)

Could use help switching over to gmail. Got pointers? Thanks.

Whoa! Thank you much! I changed @ to at, is that safe?

Jan, thanks for the direction.

Sort of no. A robot such as Google can't, but a human can change the "at" to a @ so if I wanted to contact you I just type the address into my mail program to send you an e-mail. Best is to not even post it. It's safe to add to your account in your personal folder where it says whether to send you a PM or an E-mail. I can't get to that without being a member. Even being a member I cant see that address if I send you something. You can then decide whether to answer that e-mailer back or not. If you do then they will have your e-mail address. I use several different e-mail accounts. For members on the forum I have two private e-mails. If I go on the net and they want an e-mail address I give them my junk e-mail address. Gmail, Yahoo, and others are free. I have a Reagan e-mail account that is private and I pay a yearly membership to. I also have one through my website. I have several through my Frontier Comm and a couple with Google or Gmail. That way I can decide how I want to send or have e-mail sent to me.

So, to be clear, I wish to receive forwarded messages to my new email account. Jan said to change my control panel email preferences, and I did. Is this all I need to do to have messages forwarded to me?

I ask, because I had to set up an RSS feed with my old email software, Thunderbird, in order to get TT_Nut mail. I should have received mail this morning, I would have thought, but it went to the old address (which goes out of service today).

Thanks,

Brian C.

I'm not getting a TT_Nut "feed" at my new email address. . . . sigh

There is an RRS Feed link at the bottom of each page. Perhaps there is a setting there that you need to change (never used RRS so not sure how it works)
