Slope Tenders

Slope Tenders

Postby AstroGoat760 » Wed May 09, 2018 11:36 pm

While doing some counting of the number of locomotives in the rebuild process and design phase, Nicholle and I have come to the realization that we are short about 6-8 tenders for the number of steam locomotives that we have and are planning on building.

One idea was to use the Maisto 1/131 tenders for a couple of steamers, but that only goes so far.

I am thinking of fitting a couple of HP 0-6-0s with Slope tenders, but I am stuck on trying to find plans for one. Does anyone have a good link to slope tender plans, or should I just try to "freehand" one and see how that turns out?

Not a plan, but a nice picture of a slope back tender. Searched for plans. Didn't come up with any. I know in the model press there are plans but trying to find what year and which magazine is a large task.

I did not even think about asking Lok-N-Roll about tenders. I guess I should do that soon.

Oooh, I have seen that loco in person some years back, during my "Grand Railroad Tour" of all the railroad hotspots that we could cram into our 2 week vacation in 2009. I am unsure, but I may have a semi-profile picture to work with of that loco and tender.

The problem is that the pictures from that trip is on a computer that is still packed up.

There are several photos & basic plan/ line drawings for 0-4-0 & 0-6-0's w/slope back tenders in the Kalmbach cyclopedia vol.1 - steam loco's. Unfortunately they don't cross reference the magazine article they are reprinted from. As they are all reprints my guess, is that many date back to the 50's or earlier.

Ian,

I do have a smattering of Model Railroaders from the 1950's, I guess that I need to find the bin that they are in and see if any have the plans that I am needing.

Thanks,

James

Thank you!

I am pretty sure that I have the April 1966 issue, but I doubt that I have the others.
