Shapeways

Postby TiTan downunder » Mon Jun 18, 2018 7:11 am

Can someone please tell me the difference in the current Shapeways materials.
I've figured that White Natural is the old FUD finish and I presume the Smooth Fine is the old frosted/translucent material which I don't really like.
What I really want to know are the Smoothest Fine finish REALLY worth the extra 40% in price? How brittle are they and how well do they paint up?
If this has been covered before and I've missed it could someone please point me in the right direction.
Thanks
Ian

White Natural was White Strong Flexible! It's only good for simple models. Because of its rough surface. Similiar at the new Professional Plastic.

Here is a complete list of changed names.

There is a small extra in price from Fine Detail Plastic Smooth to Smoothest. It makes sense ordering in Smoothest the finely detailed models. Grab irons (handle) or steps in Fine Detail Plastic are some more brittle than at common injection molded models (ABS or PS). I start painting with Tamiya Surface Primer (L) (item 87042) and it works very well. After that, I have used paint from Tamiya, Revell, Testors.
