Can anyone tell me what I can use as an underframe for the Shapeways 40ft High Cube?

An underframe of a 40 footer will work. Ask Taxari for his solution. But I think he took a simple milled frame from me.

Hi Rod, that's right, i used a simple one without any details from MacG:

If i made it again, i would model more details like for my next project, the Woodchip from Ian:

Ok thanks both. So MacG - do you have any underframes and do you ship to the UK? At present I'm just looking at options for future expansion of my fleet - I still have three freight cars to assemble but the high-cube would probably be next in line.

Check this for the underframe:

I don't expect anyone making functional cushion underframe in TT, but the pictures there show the underframe incl. the brake.

Interesting topic. Thanks for the link, Jan! A functional cushion underframe would be great, but I think it isn't doable in TT. I have to check if I have any plans for this Hy-Cube boxcar. A cushion underframe would be also great for RobM Railbox-Cars.

@RodTT: I don't have a subframe anymore. The linked model looks better than my AAR underframe. I will think about a new production.

I have a plan out of the Model Railroader July 1989 from the side and the end. With the length over the coupler pockets, I will think about a frame with the extended couplers.

I've seen a working cushion underframe in HO, which some years ago made me contemplate the possibility in TT, and I concluded that it's very doable...

It may be feasible, but who is willing to pay the price for this great effort.

With my simplistic approach I can get away with just something to support the trucks and couplers, as it's not going to be seen anyway. In the absence of a ready-made solution I'll probably have a go at making something out of plastic, as and when I get round to buying one of these cars.
