Re: Converting N scale mechaisms for TT
To get the ball rolling, I have converted two N scale mechanisms to broader gauge. Both were Atlas products, one a VO1000 converted to 10.5mm for 2mm fine scale broad gauge. The other was a C-628 conversion to 12mm gauge for my (ongoing) Alco RS1 project. Both were very similar in build, but I will ...

Converting N scale mechaisms for TT
Here is a place to talk about converting N scale drive mechanisms to TT scale. I imagine it will largely to do with bogies, but other parts of the mechanism could also be discussed. Please share what you have done, how you did it, what went well, and what didn't work that good. This can help us all ...

Re: GE 44 Tonner etch
Al, I have converted a couple of N scale mechanisms to broader-gauge. One was to 2mm finescale broad gauge (track gauge of 10.5mm, the same as HOn3. It was an Atlas VO-1000 converted to a Victorian Railways T-Class. I used the 2mm Association wheels, which were half axles, like the Atlas. Unlike the...

Re: DC trains using DCC
Wow, that is a very intriguing idea.
I imagine that old DC loco's would run much smoother with the DCC motor control provided by the decoder.

Re: Roco's back
Oooh, nice! I regret never buying the Russian M62 they made previously. I guess the CSD version will do the job when it is released (with a repaint and probably some mods...), and hoping a Russian one will be released in due course. Looks like my nuclear train will get a loco after all :)

Re: Bigelov's projects
The wire I have been using is nickel-silver from Albion Alloys, available locally. I have it in 0.2 (0.008") and 0.33mm (0.013") diameter. I also have some K&S brass and aluminium rod and tube, starting at .5mm (0.020"). I would like to get the wire in phosphor bronze, but will ha...

Re: Bigelov's projects
I have ordered some decoders. For the SW9 and another (TGK2 model from Piko to be repainted Russian). With the SW9 up and running I have moved to Meeker Southern caboose MSN10046, ex Northern Pacific (and then BN) from the late 60's. I posted a part completed 3D drawing on the previous page, and hav...
