Re: Bigelov's projects

Below is the jig and a pair of handrails I started for the Caboose end platform. It was at this point that I stopped working on the caboose as I couldn't get my head around how to make the rest. But back to the jig... https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51549702089_09aa1b7efa_z.jpg You can see on th...

Re: Bigelov's projects

Late last year I was talking a bit about handrails and jigs, initially related to the Meeker Southern caboose and I mentioned that I would go into more detail. Better late than never... Here are a few of those jigs. They are basically 1mm (0.040") piano wire poked into holes drilled in 3mm (1/8...

Re: Bigelov's projects

Some time back I got a Shapeways Russian narrow gauge TU7 body print and I have finally finished detailing it and applied the basic colours. It is shown alongside my old TU7 that I made from styrene. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51627846294_91a6661cea_z.jpg The new one is only a static model,...

Re: Bigelov's projects

And for my 100th post... Although I haven't done much train stuff this year, I have not been totally idle. A friend of mine is in the 2mm Association, a British based finescale group modelling 2mm to the foot, or 1:152. Well, he is very keen on Victorian Railways (VR) and modeling 2mm in 5" bro...

Re: Still around

Well Alex, funny you should mention that!... But actually no. I haven't delved into that realm but I have saved a lot of "fantasy" and "Sci-fi" train images to my computer. If you are interested, there are a couple of threads on the MRH forum dealing with this stuff, the main one...

Re: Still around

Thanks guys, Through a long and circuitous route I got into TT scale railway though wargaming. So a couple of pics of recent forays into that realm: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51540092122_3f429a2c25_z.jpg Star Wars sci-fi in 28mm (approx 1:55) https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51541603579...

Still around

Hi All, It has been a while, but I am still around. I haven't done much in the way of model trains for most of the year, but am starting to get back into it. But I have been checking the forum every once in a while to not get to far behind in all your TT (and other) news. Apart from trains I have be...

Re: Canadian steamers from German models...

That's great finding a 'donor' chassis. In N scale sometimes they put the motor is in the tender, but drives the loco wheels via a shaft. I am not sure if locos are manufactured like that, or modified/kits etc. This obviously isn't like that though. The bogies would be driven like any four axle dies...
