Re: U30b chassis for Tillig Gear Tower

Actually the solution I have on my machine only costs a few dollars. I have a weight and pulley system that puts a constant pressure against the nuts to hold them tight. All you need is some 100lb braided fishing line, a pulley and about 5lbs on each of the X & Y axis. Unless you are taking huge cut...

Re: U30b chassis for Tillig Gear Tower

Sherline uses Lunix and the software running on the Sherline is EMC. I use CamBam for my CAM program. As far as I can determine from the manual there is no backlash compensation in the software. The machine has hardware backlash adjustment screws. See pic. Bernd You need to measure backlash with a ...

Re: U30b chassis for Tillig Gear Tower

Assuming your X axis is left-right and Y axis is top-bottom in your pics, your Y axis has a lot of backlash.

Are you using Mach3 for your controller? If so, it has a backlash compensation setting somewhere. Other controllers should as well.

But, it is best to eliminate the backlash.

This seems like a simple machine that with a little creativity should give good results. These machines are knife cutters and work...

Re: HP 4-6-2 project

Thanks for the comments. Hoping for a photo or two for arranging the pipes and linkage . I guess I can fake it for now and try to get things right when it gets repainted. I enjoy working on the models. My frustrations are mostly from being old. Still think Mark's a hero for what he did for TT. -Ter...

Re: White toner for laser printers

Always been curious how this works. Say you want to print something dark red. With regular printing the printer will use black & red to get the correct color. But if you switch the black cartridge to white doesn't that mean that dark red will now be a mix of white & red, making it light red?

Re: Switching to Gmail

There is an RRS Feed link at the bottom of each page. Perhaps there is a setting there that you need to change (never used RRS so not sure how it works)
