Re: 33' 2 bay offset hopper

"the standard width between the truck sideframes and thus the axle length are obviously off-scale because of the too wide NEM wheels." Toy train trucks usually deal with the too wide wheel issue by leaving off the prototype's bearing castings on the inside of the truck frames, so scale width wheels ...

Re: 33' 2 bay offset hopper

"The shorter FVM axles are correct because the wheels are much thinner than per NEM!" Axle length and wheel thickness are two separate issues. Axle length along with axle end shape affects the fit in the truck sideframes, wheel width mostly affects the way a wheel will operate thru a given turnout( ...

Re: Track discussion

"are you willing to email with Fox Valley?" Hi Brian, Sure, I'll give them a ring. A dealer interested in re-selling track would be more persuasive though. I'd like to be able to buy TT flextrack and just build my turnouts instead of handlaying the whole layout. I'm working on my S layout now so hav...

Re: Track discussion

"Not enough modelers in TT scale for NA products."

That's true but S is also not a big scale and it was already served by 4 major track manufacturers so Fox Valley might have an easier time being the big fish in the small TT scale pond? .....DaveB

Re: Track discussion

This was an old topic but I thought of it when I noticed that Fox Valley is now making S scale Flextrack so I was wondering if they might consider making TT flextrack too. Those nice FVM wheels need something to run on :>) How many potential TT scale modelers are just waiting for some nice flextrack...

"but other than claiming the smallest operating title for the time I think the craftsman label applied back then. I've got a couple old builds on HP locos that are beautiful but there's a lot of work in them. I often wonder what would have happened if Gordon Varney or Irv Athearn decided to try TT b...

Re: HP 4-6-2 project

"My first impression was that with models like this it's easy to see why TT scale had been left behind"

Back in those days HO engines weren't that great either. TT America steam could be made to contemporary standards if some company wanted to do it.......DaveB

In practice I get just as good results using 25 cent bolts in close fitting holes( and no Forstner bit drilling required :>) ....DaveB

Re: TT Scale Farm Stuff

Small HO scale tires could be used as big TT scale tires, or big N scale tire for small TT scale tires....DaveB

"More jobs for the US and it's railroad related"

Problem is the Republicans are already talking about cutting funds for high speed rail. Japan could certainly build us trains if our govt. would come up with a way to pay for them.....DaveB
