The difference in width is noticeable, if you know what you're looking for. I think it certainly looks the part and shouldn't look out of place in a train on a layout.

I think as long as a sufficient number of RTR rolling stock suitable for running with the 31 become available around the same time, 1:120 will do fine in the UK as a niche-y scale, certainly much better than it does here.
