Is that a realistic price (based on plastic volume)? $100 seems high

HO locos seem around $80 (but don't include sideframes).

That is the price based on plastic volume plus a markup for the designer.

Another thing to consider- what material are the HO ones listed under? Jes has his listed as FUD (frosted ultra detail) for the material, most of the others I've looked at have the base listed as WSF (White strong and flexible). The WSF wouldn't be suitable for a TT diesel with the texture it has. You can order one in WSF, on the right side under "Material" you can change it to WSF and get one for $52, but you probably won't be too happy with it when it arrives! Or change it to FUD on the HO locomotive and you'll see the price difference.
