Russian trucks in TT

Russian trucks in TT

Postby Arseny » Sat Sep 26, 2009 3:36 pm

Today I purchased some trucks of 50's in TT.
Maybe it would be interesting for you.

MAZ-200.
This 7-ton truck was produced in the city of Yaroslavl since 1947 and in the city of Minsk from 1951, until 1965.
("MAZ" means "Minsk Auto Plant")

The engine was the copy of GMC 4-71 diesel, but I do not know, if the design was copied from any American truck?
Maybe GMC-803, White or Federal Truck?
It looks like Federal...

Together with German Trabant, IFA and BR.56 steam loco:

YaAZ-210 (ЯАЗ-210).
This 12-ton truck was produced in the city of Yaroslavl since 1948 until 1959. Later the production of this truck was moved to KrAZ (Kremenchug, Ukraine).

The engine was the copy of GMC 6-71 diesel, and the truck was the copy of American Diamond T-980, but I think - not an exact copy.

And a small scene near the depot.

"The railway officer was going to sit in the cabin (and drive to the girls?) but was stopped by his boss (on the Barkas B1000)... :)

These models were produced by the Ukranian company, I don't know its name.
Maybe they can be used as American trucks too...

Yes, they are available RIGHT NOW. I've bought them in the "Modell-Express" shop (www.modellhouse.com)
The price is near $20-23. (MAZ-200 - 610 roubles, YaAZ-210 - 680 roubles).

But they are rare - the MAZ-200 was the last.
After my visit only YaAZ-210 remained. :) (they still have 2 or 3 pieces in stock yet)
Also they have some YaAZ-210G tractors, but I do not like it:

Also I've found them at the site of the Modelldepo shop (in Moscow):

http://www.modelldepo.ru/index.php?menu ... YAZ210tent

I do not know if the information is correct, but the yellow box means "in stock".

Even with the feeble translating that is available with Internet Explorer, I am barely able to understand the websites that sell those trucks.

I really want to get my hands on at least one of those trucks...

Some of them are available at http://www.modelauto.cz/ - they have English version of the site.

AngrySailor302, if I buy it for you in Russia, how can you send a money for me? I have no decision...

BTTB Fan, we can make a change, if you have, for example, a Big Boy model in TT... ;)
Or, maybe, any American cars (I mean automobiles)?

Arseny,
Thank you for that link. I found the truck and a few more vehicles and such on that site. Nicholle is clamoring for some of the figures and one of the steam tractors that are availble.

I am working on learning Russian, but I have to be careful about it, I have already gotten in trouble once over my pet's Russian names (including the "Soviet Ferret League [Katya (deceased), Boris Yeltsin (deceased), Kira, Buran, Pavel, Dimitry, and Olga) followed up by my showing up for duty in a Russian style winter coat and hat, and my making short comments to others while onboard ship but not on watch, such as calling others "comrade".

Some people on this base do not have a sense of humor.

I plan on making some orders from that company in short order.
It would be very nice to have some authentic Russian items on the TT layout when I get my own house, especially in the Russian section of my "TTworld" layout.

Thanks again Arseny,
I owe you some vodka. :D

Arseny,
In another thread I announced my intention to make TT scale models of my vehicles out of resin. When I am able to get off of the medication that screws with my vision and get the shaking from the pain under control, I should be able to get those done in short order. I take it that you might be interested in some copies of them?

AngrySailor302, sorry, my English is very poor, so I am not quite sure that I understood you well...

What does it mean - "Ferret League" ? You have some ferrets? Live ferrets, like this ?

And why "Yeltsin"? He likes to drink, maybe? :)

In Russia it's unusual to give names to animals in honor of any politics or historical persons. Only in negative or ironic sense.
For example: it's very popular name "Chubais" for rufous, red-hair cats. :)
Or somebody can give a name "Hitler" or "Pinochet" for an angry dog or any other agressive animal...

(Russian military joke: Young soldier writes a letter to home: "Dear mother! Please, buy a pig, and name him "Sergeant". When I return home, i'll slaughter him...")

You was a military man, man of arms? Soldier, or officer?
It was not a good idea to wear russian clothes and to call others "comrade" at the military base... :)
When I served in the army (it's obligatorily for all Russian men), I thik I would have a problem if I wear a cowboy heat and jeans instead of uniform, and call any officer "mister"... :)

I owe you some vodka.

Vodka, bears and balalaika - it's Russia? :)
I prefer brandy. :)
