Removing lettering from Gold Coast boxcars

Upon re-review of our rolling stock collection, we found a number of duplicate Gold Coast boxcars. What would be the best way to remove lettering from them without damaging the plastic?

Just a suggestion, I would probably make them into short line "patch" jobs from the 1970-80's boxcar shortage era....back when lots of short lines were making cash off per diem payments from renting 40 foot cars out. Realistic, and no need to try to remove silk screened print. John
